Leaking Pipe Boots
Our client has a home in Atlanta that he is selling. Upon a home inspection, he found that he could see daylight in the attic through the roof decking where a PVC pipe vent went through the roof. We came out to inspect the roof and round that the roof had five PVC pipe boots and they were all ruined and allowing water into the attic. This is not unusual for homes to have leaking vents. This house is eight years old and the boots only last about five to eight years.
In order to fix this roofing problem, we bid to change out all five boots and repair any shingles that may be torn in the process. First, we tore out the old boots by pulling up the shingles around them, then installed the new boots and shingles. As we did this, we had to make sure to seal the old nail holes and secure the new boots and shingles with the right amount of nails in the proper place.
Completing this Atlanta Roofing Job
This job turned out very well. The roof was a 10/12 pitch so it was a little steep. We were able to safely fix this roof by using cougar paws roofing boots and shingle pads. Cougar paws are especially designed to grip shingle roofs.
The client loved the results of this roofing repair. We were able to fix all five pipe boots. It was difficult to match the shingles because they shingles on his roof are no longer made anymore. We found a match for the shingles, however, and completed the job in a timely manner.
