Flashing Roof Repair
We checked the roof and found that the roof to wall flashing on a parapet wall was the old trough flashing and was allowing water into the attic. A parapet wall is a “low protective wall or railing along the edge of a raised structure such as a roof or balcony.” We bid to install new step flashing to the entire length of the wall as well as counter flashing. The wall was a total of 22 ft in length. This job took place on January 24th.
In order to begin replacing the flashing, we first cleaned up the area of all the leaves and debris on the roof. Next, we separated the shingles to allow us to slide and fasten in the individual step flashings between the shingles. Once these were in place, we installed the counter flashing and sealed it with geocel caulk. We then painted the flashing to match the rest of the roof.
